Saada for Development Association Participates in the First Regional Seminar on Morocco’s Public Family Policy and Highlights the Importance of Supporting Families of Persons with Disabilities

At the invitation of the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Saada for Development Association participated in the first regional seminar dedicated to Morocco’s Public Family Policy. Held on April 8, 2026, at the Regional Chamber of Agriculture in the Béni Mellal–Khénifra region, the seminar formed part of the national consultation process aimed at developing the Public Family Policy 2035.

The event brought together several high-ranking officials, including Ms. Naïma Ben Yahia, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family; Mr. Abdeljabbar Rachidi, Secretary of State for Social Integration; Mr. Khattar El Moujahid, Director of the National Mutual Aid Foundation; the Ministry’s Secretary-General; and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Representatives of government departments, local authorities, universities, and civil society organizations also took part in the discussions.

The seminar addressed several strategic themes, including the presentation of the Public Family Policy 2035 framework, an analysis of the challenges facing Moroccan families in light of demographic and social changes, the presentation of family support programs in the Béni Mellal–Khénifra region, and the role of local stakeholders in implementing the policy. Discussions also covered social assistance services and the exchange of experiences among associations working in the field of family support.

During his intervention, Mr. Abdelhak Assermouh, President of Saada for Development Association, emphasized that supporting persons with disabilities remains one of the Association’s highest priorities. He stressed the importance of fully integrating the needs of persons with disabilities and their families into all relevant public policies.

He also raised a question that reflects the concerns of many families: How will the Public Family Policy 2035 provide practical solutions to meet the needs of families caring for persons with disabilities, particularly in the province of Khouribga? He emphasized that the success of the policy will depend on its ability to deliver concrete measures that ensure inclusion, equity, and equal opportunities for all.

The Association’s participation in this seminar reflects its ongoing commitment to contributing to national and regional discussions on family affairs and social inclusion, advocating for the rights of vulnerable groups, and strengthening institutional dialogue in support of sustainable and inclusive development.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Saada for Development Association expressed its sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family for organizing this important consultation. The Association also expressed its hope that the seminar’s recommendations will be translated into fair, effective, and inclusive public policies that respond to the needs of Moroccan families, particularly those supporting persons with disabilities in the Béni Mellal–Khénifra region and the province of Khouribga.
